Thinking About Eloping in London? 8 Questions You Might Be Too Afraid to Ask

Planning a wedding in a different country can feel like decoding a secret language, babes. If you're eyeing an elopement in London but you're low-key panicking about what to expect, don't worry, I've got you.

Here are 8 super common (but rarely asked) questions couples have about eloping in London, especially if you're planning from abroad and want something effortless, luxe, and still full of heart.

1. What even is an elopement these days?

Great question!

It’s no longer “running away and getting married in secret.”

These days, an elopement is an intentionally small wedding. Think 2 to 20 guests focused entirely on you two. No big guest list, no pressure, just love (and hopefully some cake).

2. Can we still have a ceremony even if we’re not from the UK?

Absolutely! But you’ll need to follow UK legalities to make it official. Or get legally married at home and have a symbolic ceremony in London. That way, you're not stressing over paperwork and timelines.

3. Where can we do it? Like… actually where?

London is full of jaw-dropping elopement spots. From secret gardens and historic landmarks to chic hotel terraces and private rooftops. But you'll need to check if a venue or location requires a permit (especially for photos!).

4. What if it rains on the day?!

It’s England. It probably will. That’s why we always have a rainy-day plan covered locations, pretty umbrellas, and flexible timelines. Rain makes for moody, romantic photos. Trust me on this one.

5. Do we need to hire a wedding planner for an elopement?

You don’t have to...

...but babes, it helps.

If you’re planning from abroad, a local planner (hi, it’s me 👋🏽) takes all the chaos off your plate—

coordinating vendors, sorting timelines, handling weather plans, and making sure your day flows beautifully.

6. Can we still include cultural traditions?

Absolutely. Whether it’s a tea ceremony, jumping the broom, or a custom vow exchange we’ll blend the traditions that matter to you in a way that feels true, respectful, and so you.

7. How much should we budget for an elopement in London?

Elopements aren’t always “cheap” just because they’re small. A luxe London elopement (with venue, planner, flowers, outfit, photog, glam) usually starts from around £5,000–£10,000. That said, there’s flexibility depending on your vibe and priorities.

8. How far in advance should we plan this?

Ideally?

At least 3 months.

But I’ve planned elopements in 2 weeks, too.

So if you’re ready to go, I’m ready to make it happen. Just know that some venues + vendors book up fast.
